Join us for an engaging conversation between Bay Area broadcast journalism legend Belva Davis and the unstoppable Marie Johnson Calloway as they explore the Legacy of Color throughout their distinguished careers.

Currently on view at MoAD is the exhibition, Marie Johnson Calloway: Legacy of Color (February 4 - April 12, 2015). From vibrant painting to textile assemblage, Marie Johnson Calloway (b. 1920) uses various mediums and techniques to convey her experience as a Black female artist. Inspired by her family and the Bay Area, Calloway represents the rhythm and spirituality of Black life through color. With a life spanning over nine decades, we celebrate Calloway’s contributions as an educator and an artist.

As the first black female TV journalist in the West, Belva Davis helped change the face and focus of TV news. In a career spanning half a century, Davis has reported many of the most explosive stories of the era. She shares the story of her extraordinary life in her spellbinding memoir, Never in My Wildest Dreams.

Belva Davis served as the Chair of the Board of Directors at MoAD when the museum opened in 2005.

This program is Co-Presented by The San Francisco Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and The National Smart Set, San Francisco Chapter.
