About

The Kindergarten-5th grade workshops are facilitated by SFUSD’s K-5 Teacher of the Year - Kelly Clark and will feature varied pedagogical approaches to discussing race in elementary classroom.  Education Workshops provide an occasion to network with other like-minded professionals in the bay area as well as discuss integration of California’s Common Core Curriculum.

This the second of a two-part workshop that is pedagogical–the how exploration of race talks. We use video, self reflection, popular culture, history, and the museum to begin to make the shifts needed to improve our understanding of one another along the lines of race, and how race shows up in the classroom. Throughout the workshop we will explore how teaching about slavery and its impact on race is profound and an opportunity to make meaning of the contemporary world.
