About

On his first visit to the US from his village in Zimbabwe, fabulously talented musician "Samaita" Vitalis Wilbert Botsa plays a concert of mbira music. Mbira is the "music of the ancestors," which has been played for over 1,000 years by the Shona people.

Bay Area native Erica Azim joins Botsa in playing the two interlocking parts on a repertoire of traditional pieces which have been played again and again over the centuries to unite the living and the ancestors. Improvisation renders each performance of the ancient pieces unique.
