Museum of the African Diaspora is proud to participate in the 13th Annual San Francisco Trolley Dances

This year’s route travels from the Castro to the Financial District/South of Market with site-specific performances by Chitresh Das Dance Company, James Graham Dance Theatre, Monique Jenkinson, Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, Parangal Dance Company, Laura Elaine Ellis and Epiphany Productions.

October 15 - 16, 2016 with tours beginning at 11am, 11:45am, 12:30pm, 1:15pm, 2:00pm, 2:45pm (each tour lasts approximately 2 hours ). The starting point is Eureka Valley / Harvey Milk Memorial Branch Library, 1 Jose Sarria Court (off 16th & Market St, in the Castro), SF. Audiences will ride Muni’s L, M, T-line from Castro to Montgomery Street Stations. Free admission with the cost of a Muni ticket.

At each site, trained volunteers greet audience members, while professional theater artists act as tour guides leading audiences along the performance journey. In addition to taking public transit, attendees have the option to walk or bike to the performance sites on their own. Route maps will be available on site and online at epiphanydance.org.

At MoAD, choreographer and dancer Laura Elaine Ellis will perform a solo accompanied by two musicians. SFTD participants will stand across from the main entrance to the museum to observe Ellis dancing inside the building’s glass façade. Ellis is a member of Dimensions Dance Theater, the executive director of the African & African American Performing Arts Coalition (AAAPAC), and co-director of the Black Choreographers Festival.

Produced by Epiphany Productions, San Francisco Trolley Dances 2016 is funded through the generous support of: National Endowment for the Arts, SFMTA, San Francisco Grants for the Arts/Hotel Tax Fund, California Arts Council, Kenneth Rainin Foundation, Walter & Elise Haas Fund, Zellerbach Family Foundation, Bernard Osher Foundation, Fleishhacker Foundation, Luck Star Foundation, Intersection for the Arts and our many generous donors!
