Educational Programs
Group Tours
MoAD Guides offer friendly and engaging tours of the Museum and special exhibitions for visitors of all ages. Guides tailor group tours for K-12 classes and camps, college students, seniors, and clubs. A discounted group admission is offered. Follow the Group Visits request procedures.
Heritage Center
Visitors can expand their MoAD visit with a stop in the Heritage Center to learn more about the African Diaspora. Friendly volunteers help visitors access resources about Museum exhibitions available on computer kiosks and in books. The Heritage Center is open weekdays 1-4 p.m. when the Museum is open.
Diaspora Curriculum
MoAD is partnering with other educational institutions in order to create and publish resources for teachers and educators to use in classroom curriculum. The MoAD in the Middle School curriculum, MoAD’s first publication will be available in Spring 2007.
e-Education
The MoAD education program uses the Museum’s website as a primary repository and public resource of Diaspora content and curriculum. Online exhibitions developed uniquely for virtual use, Museum exhibitions adapted for presentation on the web, and the archiving of public programs for visitors unable to attend, make it possible for more people to participate in MoAD’s experience.
Family Program
On the third Saturday of the month, MoAD offers children and adults an intergenerational hands-on program that explores aspects of the African Diaspora related to Museum exhibitions. Local artists lead activities. Check the MoAD calendar for upcoming programs.
