About

Join us for an evening of discussion with Toyin Ojih Odutola about her new body of work, A Matter of Fact. Ojih Odutola will be in conversation with MoAD's Director of Exhibitions Emily Kuhlmann.

Toyin Ojih Odutola was born in Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 1985 and currently lives and works in New York. With each series she tackles, Ojih Odutola creates drawings utilizing a variety of media; each given tool emphasizing how an image is a striated terrain to investigate and mine beyond representation.

Recent solo exhibitions include Toyin Ojih Odutola: Of Context and Without, Jack Shainman Gallery, New York, 2015 and Untold Stories, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Missouri, 2015. Her work is currently on view in Africa Forecast: Fashioning Contemporary Life, Spelman College Museum of Fine Art,  Atlanta, GA, through December 3, 2016.

A recent graduate of the California College of Arts MFA program (2012), Ojih Odutola’s work is already in major museum collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art, NY, Baltimore Museum of Art, MD, Philadelphia Museum of Art, PA, Honolulu Museum of Art, HI, Birmingham Museum of Art, AL and The National Museum of African Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. She is represented by Jack Shainman Gallery in New York.

The program will include a wine reception.
