About

Join filmmaker Connie Field for a screening of her documentary OLIVER TAMBO.

"No struggle depends on one person. But there are exceptions to every rule. Oliver Tambo is that exception. It is sufficient for me to say there is not enough rain in the skies for us to be able to shower on him the honor he deserves."
- Nelson Mandela

The untold story of Oliver Tambo-- who lived a life on the principles of compassion, inclusion, social justice and equality-- the man behind the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of apartheid in South Africa. Described as one of the world’s greatest statesmen, his strategy to the international community to isolate and sanction the Apartheid regime created the most globalized human rights struggle of the 20 century.

Regarded as a terrorist in the West, he was hunted by South African government assassins. He narrowly escaped death at their hands, and succeeded in leading the overthrow of apartheid and fathered the new constitution of a democratic South Africa.

Academy Award-nominated & Emmy-winning director Connie Field has made high profile documentaries shown all over the world: Al Helm: Martin Luther King in Palestine; Independent Lens’ Have You Heard From Johannesburg; The American Experience’s Freedom on My Mind and The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter, and the Council on Foundation’s award winner Salud. Winner of many numerous awards—including Sundance Grand Jury Prize, British Academy Award Nominee, & Best Feature Documentary from numerous festivals.
