Join us for "Ficre: Multi-talented Visionary," a lecture presented by Issayas Tesfamariam, a friend and colleague of Ficre Ghebreyesus.

Ficre was a poet, an artist, a chef, an entrepreneur, and many other things. Ficre was a progressive who fought for social justice, liberation, education and peace. Issayas will discuss the implementation of Ficre's extraordinary visions.

Issayas Tesfamariam will lead a one-hour tour of Ficre Ghebreyesus: A City with a River Running Through in Tigrinya and Amharic preceding the lecture at 1pm.

Issayas Tesfamariam studied film at San Jose State University and has a Masters degree from the University of San Francisco in Asia Pacific Studies. He is a lecturer (Tigrinya and Amharic) at the African and Middle Eastern Languages Department at Stanford University. He is also the head of the Microfilming Department, collects materials on the Horn of Africa for the Hoover Institution Archives.
