About

The Yerba Buena Alliance is proud to present the Yerba Buena Art Walk on Saturday June 17, 2017. In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love, the Yerba Buena Art Walk features 13 participating institutions at 12 different locations that are partnering to open their doors for FREE for this special event.

Experience the art heart of downtown San Francisco in the Yerba Buena neighborhood as you wander the blocks between Market and Harrison, Second and Fifth Street soaking in art, culture, music, dance and performance and cutting edge exhibitions of all sorts of art. Each venue is doing special programming throughout the night that is has something fun for everyone!

At MoAD, you can view our current exhibitions Love or Confusion: Jimi Hendrix in 1967, Todd Gray: My Life in the Bush with MJ and Iggy, The Ease of Fiction, and Lili Bernard: Antebellum Appropriations.

We will host a Maker's Mart featuring products made by or about the African Diaspora experience in both traditional and innovative artisan handmade products. From 2-5pm, Ramekon O'Arwisters will bring his Crochet Jam to MoAD. Crochet Jams engage the public to think differently about the role of art within community and the power of art within society. Crochet Jam—a public, art-making event that's embracing and inclusive, with no attempt made to dictate the creative process nor judge the finished project—is meditative, liberating, and empowering.

Ramekon O'Arwisters started Crochet Jam in 2012. His social-art practice is rooted in a cherished childhood memory that's steeped in the African-American tradition of weaving in a calm and non-judgmental environment without rules or limitations.
