About
Opening Reception for our newest exhibitions Africa State of Mind and Adama Delphine Fawundu’s The Sacred Star of Isis and Other Stories.
This September, MoAD presents an exhibition season dedicated to photographic practices. Highlighting some of the most significant photographers living and working in America today, as well as the work of fifteen diverse African photographers, two exhibitions, including the only U.S. showing of the traveling exhibition Africa State of Mind, and Adama Delphine Fawundu’s The Sacred Star of Isis and Other Stories are on view September 4 - November 15.
We are also excited to begin the next exhibition in our Toni Rembe Freedom Theater featuring Rashaad Newsome. The exhibition focuses on video works inspired by the origins and continued dynamism of Vogue, a dance phenomenon that emerged from Harlem’s queer ballroom scene.
