MoAD Mix: Work Through the Eyes of Elizabeth Catlett
Wednesday, September 24 | 6:00PM PT | Virtual
Join us for a stirring edition of MoAD Mix: A Spirited Discussion on Art & Culture as we enter “The World of Work According to Elizabeth Catlett.” Known for her powerful prints and sculptures centering Black life—especially the dignity, struggle, and beauty of Black women—Catlett dedicated her art to illuminating the lived realities of labor, resilience, and justice.
In this session, we’ll explore how Catlett’s work uplifted the stories of domestic workers, sharecroppers, teachers, and mothers—often cast as invisible or expendable by society but made visible through her bold lines and soulful figures. We’ll also discuss what “work” means in the Black experience today, and how art can help us reflect on whose labor gets valued—and whose gets overlooked.
Expect thoughtful conversation, curated music, and a themed cocktail/mocktail recipe to sip as we gather in community.
Whether you’re an art lover, activist, student, or simply curious—this evening promises to ground you in the enduring power of art and the ongoing call for justice.
MoAD Mix: A Spirited Discussion on Art & Culture is a refreshing re-imagination of Art As We See It.
Once you register for the program, you will receive an acknowledgement email with the zoom link and drink recipes. If you don't receive this email, please check your junk mail or spam folder.
