‍Hosted by poet Nia McAllister, join us for an evening of spoken word, featuring amazing poets from throughout the Bay Area. Participate or just watch. Everyone is welcome.

‍Our Featured Artist: Landon Smith

Landon Smith (he/him) was born in LA but grew up in San Jose, CA. He earned his BA in English from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor and went to Mills College in Oakland to attain his MA in English Literature and Languages with a focus on black texts. When he was 12, his parents were going through a divorce, and his older sister, Alia, wanted him to have an outlet so she got him his first journal - that is how his lifelong journey with writing was born.

Unconcerned with accumulating poetic accomplishments, he hopes that his work merely makes readers/listeners feel something - whatever it is. He credits much of his growth as a poet to his community at the Patrice Lumumba Writer’s Group, out of the East Side Arts Alliance in Oakland.
