This fall, I invite you to experience a season that reflects what I believe museums can be at their very best: places where art expands our understanding of ourselves, our histories, and one another.

Across three exhibitions and a major initiative, MoAD explores how artists of the African Diaspora transform inherited histories into new ways of seeing.

Dewey Crumpler's extraordinary retrospective reveals more than fifty years of artistic inquiry into Black consciousness, memory, time, and spirituality.

After the Island brings together three remarkable ceramic artists whose work traces the enduring cultural lives of the Jamaican diaspora through ornament, clay, and ancestral knowledge.

Dorian Reid's exuberant Calling All Cats! reminds us that joy, humor, community, and political imagination are deeply connected, inviting us into a world where family stories, neighborhood histories, and beloved black cats become acts of liberation.

This season also marks the launch of SANCTUARY: Art as Care, a museum-wide initiative grounded in a simple but increasingly urgent question: What becomes possible when we create space to slow down and truly look?

Through exhibitions, conversations, artist-led experiences, and moments of quiet reflection, SANCTUARY explores the role museums can play in cultivating attention, connection, and collective care.

Although each exhibition stands on its own, I hope you'll experience them together. They speak across galleries and across disciplines, revealing the extraordinary breadth of contemporary artistic practice while asking enduring questions about memory, belonging, creativity, and our shared future.
