Please join us for the artist reception for Chanell Stone: Natura Negra, the first exhibition of the 2019-2020 Emerging Artist Program. Through a compilation of environmental portraits, Stone explores the notion of “holding space” within one’s environment and the nuances of compartmentalized nature. She analyzes the Black body’s presence within urban “forests” as an effort to reclaim and reconnect to nature itself, even within the confines of the man-made environment.

During the reception, the artist will present a collection of archival, family photographs and give an extended introduction to her practice.

This reception will also include light refreshments.
