MoAD Emerging Artists presents Angie Keller | The Gladioli of El Carmen
Angie Keller is a Peruvian-American photographer currently based in Topanga, CA. She studied photography at Missouri State University’s Department of Art and Design.
“Many years spent living outside of Peru have allowed me the opportunity to better appreciate that Peru’s vibrant and diverse cultures are fundamental to what makes Peruvian life unique. Peru is evolving, modernizing, and globalizing. Somehow, I want to stop the changes. I fear losing what I left behind many years ago. I like to preserve moments through photographs to document those moments that continue to make Peru unique.“
— Angie Keller
Following the talk, there will be a brief performance by Cunamacué, an Afro-Peruvian dance company based in Oakland, CA. For this performance, Cunamacué will be accompanied by Marina Lavalle, poet, composer and former lead singer of critically acclaimed Perú Negro and a 3-piece band playing traditional Afro-Peruvian instruments.
