Chef-in-Residence Bryant Terry presents Choppin’ It Up with MoAD

In this weekly IG live series, MoAD’s Chef-in-Residence Bryant Terry will talk to noted creatives of African descent (farmers, chefs, authors, activists, entrepreneurs, and the like) about how they have been navigating work and life during the stay-at-home order. Bryant will also be demonstrating how to make simple plant-based dishes from his backyard in Oakland.

May 1 at 3pm - Keba Konte of Red Bay Coffee

Now rooted in Oakland, California, Keba Armand Konte was born and raised in San Francisco. He is an artist, food entrepreneur, and man of the community. His artwork has been published widely and exhibited in museums and galleries internationally.

He is the co-founder of Guerilla Cafe, the founder of Chasing Lions Cafe, and the founder/roaster for Red Bay Coffee. Konte seeks to inject some diversity into the primarily white world of third-wave coffee. As he puts it: “The last brown person involved in your coffee is usually the farmer who cultivated the beans.”

In his spare time he enjoys aquaponic gardening, judo, and making vegan waffles for his family.
