Join us for an illuminating edition of MoAD Mix: A Spirited Discussion on Art & Culture, featuring Nigerian-American artist Mikael Owunna and his celebrated photographic series Infinite Essence.

‍

Owunna’s work reimagines Black bodies as sites of cosmic brilliance—glowing with light, divinity, and ancestral power. Through multispectral photography, he transforms the Black figure into a celestial being, challenging narratives of violence and invisibility by revealing a universe within.

‍

In this conversation, Owunna will share the inspirations behind Infinite Essence, his creative process, and how spirituality, science, and mythology converge in his image-making. We’ll explore the ways his work opens radical possibilities for healing, transcendence, and re-envisioning Blackness beyond the limits of the physical world.
