About

Join us for the opening reception to celebrate our Spring exhibitions! Mary Lovelace O’Neal: Whales, A Romance… brings together her Whales Fucking series forty years after the creation of these works. O’Neal’s intersecting environmental and social justice commitments present a timely reflection on the Bay Area as a central geo-social site of politicized artistic expression. We will also be debuting David Huffman: Terra Incognita, the first extended presentation of the artist’s Traumanauts series at a museum. This exhibition showcases the extensive narrative that Huffman has been designing since the early 1990s across a range of media including large-scale canvas, works on paper, ceramics, video, and printmaking. In the Salon this spring, we will be showcasing the second exhibition in the 2019-2020 Emerging Artists Program season, Sydney Cain: Refutations. And finally, this celebration will commemorate a commissioned site-specific installation by Sam Vernon, Impasse of Desires, in the first-floor lobby.Join us in a toast to this season’s exhibitions from MoAD Executive Director, Monetta White.Light snacks and refreshments.Registration is required.Member Hour is 5-6pm.
